Four Multi-4 Bench dot peen marking machines are installed at this company’s facility to mark traceability information on pistons for motorcycles.
The process is simple:
- The operator places the piston on the two rollers
- The laser measuring system measures the diameter of the piston while it rotates
- The measurements are sent from the laser measurement system to the Multi-4 Control Box
These measurements are compared with additional piston marking information stored in the Control Box. Once the right piston type has been chosen, the operator places the piston under the marking head and marking begins.
This process is highly customizable to allow for a wider range of component types, sizes, and materials.
