To remain compliant with the Department of Defense’s IUID traceability requirements, this company instituted a Multi-4G Hand Held 120 dot peen marking system. The Multi-4 Hand Held marks 2D datamatrix codes on the carbon steel crankshafts for optimal traceability.
Since the marine crankshafts are large and heavy, marking with a stationary dot peen machine would’ve been difficult. The Multi-4 Hand Held is incredibly mobile, which lends itself well to cumbersome or awkward parts.
